Motif Name

Lotus Sunflower

The layered concentric petals radiating outward resemble a blooming solar or floral disc (such as a lotus or sunflower). In Indian textile iconography, this geometry symbolises purity, spiritual growth, and abundance. In the mid-20th century, a massive migration of highly skilled weavers from the Padmashali community from present-day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh relocated to Solapur. They integrated their native, intricate geometric mapping techniques into the local cotton utility blanket production.
